About Us

The Recyclery Collective is a 501(c)3 nonprofit community bike shop in Rogers Park, Chicago — and so much more than a place to buy a bike.

Founded in 2006, we've spent nearly two decades making cycling accessible to everyone on Chicago's northside. Our shop is run primarily by passionate volunteers who believe that bikes have the power to build stronger, more connected communities. Our professional mechanics refurbish donated bikes to like-new condition, giving each one a second life and keeping thousands of bikes out of landfills every year.

When you shop with us, you're directly supporting:

- Free bikes for neighbors in need through our Freecyclery program

- Hands-on bike repair classes for adults and youth

- Open Shop hours where anyone can fix their own bike using our tools and expert guidance

- Youth programs teaching mechanics, road safety, and environmental awareness

- A welcoming, non-judgmental space for Chicago cyclists of every skill level

Whether you're a seasoned mechanic or have never touched a wrench, you'll find community here. We've taught thousands of students, refurbished more than 10,000 bikes, and give away 250 free bikes annually to those in need.

Want to give back? Volunteer with us, or donate a bike or money to help keep the mission rolling.
